On November 10th, Southeast University held a grand ceremony to welcome Helmuth Möhwald, Member of European Academy of Sciences to join SEU as guest professor. Professor Gu Zhongze, Dean of School of Biological Sciences & Medical Engineering issued the certificate to Prof. Möhwald and wore a school badge of SEU for him.
After the grand ceremony, Professor Möhwald made an academic speech for teachers and students with the theme of “Polymer/Inorganic Composite Interfaces: From Plasmonic Sensing to Responsive Cellular interactions”.
Born on January 19, 1946 in Goldenöls (Czechoslovakia). Degree in physics Göttingen Univ. (1971), PhD at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysical Chemistry/Göttingen (1974), postdoc IBM San Jose (1974/1975), German Habilitation in physics Ulm Univ. (1978), scientific staff member at Dornier/Friedrichshafen (1978-1981), Associate Professor of Experimental Physics (Biophysics) TU Munich (1981-1987) and of Physical Chemistry Mainz Univ. (1987-1993), Director and Scientific Member at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (since 1993), Honorary Professor Potsdam University (since 1995). Since his retirement in February 2014 Profesor Möhwald directs the emeritus working group "Interfaces" at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces.
