In 1983, U.S. News & World Report published its first 'America's Best Colleges' report. The rankings have been compiled and published annually since 1985 and are the most widely quoted of their kind in the United States.This is the first time that this American media company published the best university and subject ranking around the globe.
According to the “Best Global Universities for Engineering”, Southeast University ranks 31st with a total score of 73.3 . These well-regarded universities from around the world have shown strength in producing research related to a variety of engineering topics. They include mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and civil engineering, etc.. All rely on the basic engineering concept of using math and science to solve problems.
According to the “Best Global Universities for Computer Science”, Southeast University ranks 50th with a total score of 61.1 . Computer science is the study of computers and their uses, and the field comprises a wide range of subjects. They include software engineering and design, artificial intelligence theory, programming languages, information systems and information technology. The world's top universities for computer science are ranked based on their reputation and research in the field.

These subject-specific rankings, which are not of academic majors, departments or specific schools at universities, such as business schools or medical schools – are based on academic research performance in those subjects. According to the rankings published by U.S. News & World Report, Southeast University ranks 398th in the “Best Global Universities”, 62nd in the “Best Global Universities in Asia”, and 20th in the “Best Global Universities in China”.
