The conferment ceremony for Prof. Dan M. Frangopol from Lehigh University to be an Honorary Professor of Southeast University was held on June 13th at the Sipailou campus. The dean of the School of Civil Engineering, Prof. Gang Wu hosted the ceremony, and the Vice President of Southeast University, Prof. Minqiang Hu awarded the certification of appointment, adorned the school badge and presented gift to Prof. Frangopol. Prof. Dan M. Frangopol is the first holder of the Fazlur R. Khan Endowed Chair of Structural Engineering and Architecture at Lehigh University, Honorary Member of the Romanian Academy of Technical Sciences. He is a Distinguished Member of ASCE, and received many prizes including T.Y. Lin Medal, etc. He is the Founding Editor of Structure and Infrastructure Engineering, an international peer-reviewed journal included in the Science Citation Index, and the Founding President of the International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety (IABMAS) and of the International Association for Life Cycle Civil Engineering (IALCCE). Prof. Dan M. Frangopol has an international reputation in the field of structural reliability, life cycle civil engineering, etc.
Prof. Dan M. Frangopol appreciated the hospitality of Southeast University, and gave a speech to the teachers and students, entitled “Integrated Reliability-Based Life-Cycle Optimization Framework for Maintenance and Monitoring of Aging Structures: Applications to Bridges and Naval Ships”
